SUSTAINABILITY
Catkin & Scraps has sustainability as a core principle, it’s at the heart of what we do and what matters to us.
We take a broad view of the concept of sustainability. It’s not just about being eco-friendly; fairness and equality, inclusivity and diversity are equally important in a truly sustainable lifestyle.
We aren’t perfect - there is always room for improvement - but we are passionate about what we do and we just really want it all to last!
Things about us that are sustainable:
- minimal and plastic-free packaging
- any paper we use is recycled
- we only sell recycled and organic sewing thread
- our selling & marketing practices are low volume and honest
- we have kind and inclusive customer service
- our fabrics are almost all made from natural fibres and we have a large selection of organic and other eco-friendly options
- we stock lots of super fibres such as linen, ramie and bamboo - these grow easily and quickly without a need for fertilisers and pesticides and don’t require as much water as crops such as cotton.
- when we work with others we look for people from groups that are underrepresented or marginalised
- the sewing patterns we stock tend towards inclusive sizing and representation
