Corduroy has a distinctive texture made of 'wales' - the higher the wale count, the finer the corduroy.

Corduroy has a nap, which means that when you sew it you should make sure all the pieces are cut in the same direction on the fabric, so that if you stroke your garment down the body while wearing it, it feels smooth.
